Welcoming Zulhijjah
Assalamualaikum to all, brothers and sisters, ladies and gentlemen, tuan-tuan dan puan-puan,
SUNNAH TO ABSTAIN FROM TRIMMING OF NAILS AND CUTTING OF HAIR
It is sunnah (recommended) to abstain from trimming our nails and cutting our hair if you are performing qurban this year. We take this opportunity to remind all our customers about this recommended practice. Some observe it and some don't. It is entirely up to you, and there is no penalty or sin if you do not follow this, insyaAllah.
If you are following this practice, the duration of abstinence from cutting hair and trimming nails begin from the eve of Zulhijjah till the qurban is performed. It is only the leader of the family who has to be observed this. And only if you are performing the qurban this year.
All our qurban will be completed by the end of the 2nd day, which is 11 Zulhijjah. Due to time differences between Singapore and Africa, Mekkah, Australia and Indonesia, please take these into consideration as well. It is safe to say, by 11.59pm of 2nd day here in Singapore, the 2nd day in Africa has passed. So by the 3rd day you are able to cut hair and trim nails.
We urge customers to read up more on this or ask their ustaz / ustazah for advice.
SUNNAH TO FAST DURING THE FIRST 9 DAYS
It is also sunnah / recommended and highly beneficial to fast in any of the 9 days of Zulhijjah leading up to Hari Raya Haji.
Please also note that we are forbidden to fast during Hari Raya Haji itself and the following 3 days of tashreeq
Thank you to all who have chosen to participate in Qurban this year for the sake of Allah ta'ala, and may He accept our sacrifice, our ibadah, our yearning to earn His favours. May Allah provide ease for us all, may He provide good health, abundance, happiness, peace and love to you and family.
Allahumma salli 'ala Sayyidina Muhammadin an-Nabiyyi al-ummiyyi, Wa 'ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallim.
Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum
Aamiin ya robbal alamin..
